Al Horford drops a truth bomb on the media about last season

I know Lou Merloni likes to call him Average Al, but can we maybe call Al Horford "Honest Al" instead?

So Horford is no longer a member of the Celtics, but this preseason he did tell The Boston Herald something about this team last year in a recent interview that just makes you go, 'hmmmm…..'

He said he doesn't think that Kyrie Irving would've stayed with the team if he stayed with the team. Here is what he had to add to that talking point.

“I’m not sure that has anything to do with it for me,” Horford told the Herald. “I just think that if Kyrie would have stayed, I don’t know if it would have worked. There would have had to be some major changes as far as players, because it was just clear that the group that we had just wasn’t going to be able to coexist.”

That's pretty wild for him to come out and admit it but I guess it's good that he is willing to tell the truth. It is tough when you know the team you are watching has these sorts of problems and then the team pretended for much of last season that there was nothing wrong on that front.

Sometimes, it is hard to trust the players and the quotes they give. These folks are trained to do media and in other words, kind of trained to lie when necessary. However, that does strike me as an honest answer which is nice to see from a professional athlete these days...

A lot of Celtics fans are probably excited about the team they have now that doesn't seem to have the same issues as last year's team. It's still early in the season so we will find out eventually, but right now it's looking like that locker room isn't a train wreck.
