Let Your Inner Child Come Out To Play At Boston's Adult Playground
Share
Why should kids have all the fun? The folks at Citizens Bank think adults deserve a place to cut loose and play, too so they created the first-ever outdoor interactive space in Boston.
The Lawn on D began as an experimental event space, but evolved into something much more.
In addition to hosting a wide array of public and private events, the Lawn on D brings all kinds of people together with arts, music, games, food & beverage, and other original programming.
The 2.7-acre fully-landscaped outdoor event space is located on D Street next to the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center in South Boston.
It's open daily during the summer and early fall with no admission costs and free public events.
Children are welcome, but the space is definitely geared towards grown-ups with games like bocce, cornhole, ping-pong, and lawn chess.
Visitors are also welcome to explore the rotating interactive art exhibits.
The current Swing Time lighting-enabled swing-set from award-winning architects Eric Höweler and J. Meejin Yoon of Höweler + Yoon Architecture is a current favorite.
The large, hoop-shaped swings even light up at night!
For those looking to relax and unwind in a beautiful outdoor setting, the Lawn on D offers plenty of public seating, free Wi-Fi and even a concessions stand with a large assortment of bar options!
The concessions stand is run by Rebel Restaurants, owners of Temazcal Tequila Cantina, Jack’s Coal Fired Pizza, and Tony C’s Sports Bar & Grill. The menu includes grill favorites, wraps, deli sandwiches, salads, and snacks.
The Lawn on D hosts frequent concerts, outdoor movies, and shows.
Check the online event calendar to find out which films, live musicians, and giant play structures will be popping up on any given day!
