New Hampshire offers everything a dog could ever dream of. Beaches, swimming holes, walking trails, farmland and plenty of businesses that welcome furry companions. Here are our picks for the best spots to play, eat and enjoy a treat with your pup in the Granite State.
For Fun:
Thanks to its remarkable landscapes, New Hampshire offers dog parks that are paradise for canines. Pierce Island in Portsmouth has an off-leash area for dogs to explore and mingle along the walking trails and rocky beach area. The Hudson Dog Park at Benson’s Park is a non-profit endeavor designed to give dogs and the humans who love them a place to congregate in Hudson. There are 160 acres of walking trails to enjoy on-leash or let your pal run wild in the fenced area.
For something a little more rustic and adventurous, visit the Conway Scenic Railroad in North Conway. Climb aboard the Valley Train or the Notch Train and experience the NH scenery as it whizzes past your window. Well behaved leashed dogs are welcome to embark!
For Food:
After all that adventure you’re sure to have worked up an appetite. Head over to Portsmouth’s WHYM Craft Beer Cafe where pups are always welcome on the patio. They even leave out a big bowl of water to quench their thirst. Humans will love the rustic atmosphere, the upscale pub style menu, and of course the local craft beers.
T-Bones Great American Eatery in Bedford is the perfect spot for human-friendly eating AND they offer a full Doggy Menu! Items include “Boo’s Bacon Wrap Bites” and the “Moe Bowl” which consists of ground beef, cheese, rice and bacon bits. Your pup can even top off his meal with an ice cream treat of french vanilla and mini rainbow dog biscuits.
For A Treat:
If you happened to get your meal somewhere other than T-Bones, you’ll be searching for an after dinner snack. Top off your day with a treat at the Goldenrod Restaurant in Manchester. The drive-in style is perfectly suited for dog lovers who want to snack with their best friend by their side. Grab a picnic table and enjoy a massive ice cream cone with any mix of their dozens of flavors. Vanilla is always dog-friendly as long as your pooch is allergy-free.
If you’re in North Conway Four Your Paws Only is a delightful boutique and dog bakery that hands out complimentary treats at the door. Shop around for a dog themed gift for yourself and some homemade, healthy snacks for your pal.
