Enjoy Fall Family Fun For A Great Cause At Connecticut’s Buttonwood Farm

Buttonwood Farm in Griswold, Connecticut is the perfect spot for fall family outings. An estimated 300,000 sunflowers sprawl across 14 acres from the end of July through early autumn. The massive yellow blooms were first planted in 2003 to attract visitors, but they have since taken on a much more noble purpose.

The proceeds from every bunch of sunflowers sold at Buttonwood between July 22 and July 30 are donated to the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Connecticut. To date, more than a million dollars have been raised to grant wishes to deserving children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.

The annual event is known as Sunflowers for Wishes!

In 1998, the Buttonwood Farm Ice Cream stand was built using milk from their own free-range dairy cows. Today, their homemade ice cream is a local favorite with more than 50 premium flavors, including frozen yogurt and sorbet!

Buttonwood is devoted to reducing their carbon footprint so all of the energy used to churn their ice cream is derived from a solar array located atop the dairy barn.

The sunflower displays are a major draw for Buttonwood Farm, but there is so much more to see and enjoy, especially in fall!

Every Saturday, Sunday and holidays from September 16th to October 29th, Buttonwood is open from 10am to dusk. Visitors are drawn by the huge corn maze complete with corn bridge.
