Gary Striewski leaves NESN

Definitely a sad time for Red Sox fans.

Yeah. That’s right. Gary is no longer with NESN. Tough to see him go regardless of how you feel about everyone else the Sox have. It’s hard to deny: he was great.

Striewski was the full-time sideline reporter from June of 2014 until the rest of the season. 2015 he split duties and then in 2016, it seemed like he was hardly on there at all, and when they did it was pretty much a holiday for Sox fans. Plus, he was also on that NESN clubhouse kids show.

There was a rumor that Striewski not having a good relationship with John Farrell from the Boston Globe, but Striewski said on the Section 10 Podcast that he never spoke with the reporter who wrote the story. Striewski also reiterated when he spoke with Farrell about it, Farrell said he was happy with their relationship.

Honestly, from what I’ve seen, it seemed like all the players always liked Gary. Some people were probably just jealous as hell of him or something.

It seemed like at the beginning of his tenure, some people did not like Striewski because he was a dude. It seems hard to dislike him though. Just always came off as such a nice guy.

From what is known right now, Striewski didn’t leave NESN with anything in media lined up. For real though, he’s going to do big things. If anyone with a lot of money has a job for him, just offer it up to him. Hell, he could probably be a talk show host or something like that.

One more last note on Gary: apparently he was at a football game I played in high school. Marshfield v. Bridgewater-Raynham in 2014. A friend of mine got a pic with him and I didn’t even find out about it until after the game. Missed opportunities man. That’s all I’ve got to say.
