The #pugstake movement began in 2015 when a group of Pug-loving friends met up in Boston to play, party and advocate for Pug Rescue.

The event was so successful they decided to add more U.S. cities, adding annual meet-ups in Chicago, D.C., New York and Las Vegas.

Several Pug-themed activities are planned throughout the weekend. Some are free, such as the Pug Meet-and-Greet at Boston Common on Saturday morning. The nominal fees raised by other events will support Pug Rescue of New England.

The festivities kick off on Friday with a guided dog-friendly sightseeing tour of the Freedom Trail and its landmarks.

Saturday will include two celebrations. The sold out Cinco de Pugo Party & Benefit at the Kimpton Onyx Hotel will include a raffle benefiting Florida Pug Rescue & Pacific Pug Rescue as well as snacks for humans and Pugs from the Boston Burger Company food truck.

Later in the evening, the adorable Pug Prom at Sandy Paw Pet Spa & Boutique, will feature fancy fidos in their finest evening wear (think ball gowns, pearls and tuxes)!
