Starland Is Every South Shore Kid's Favorite Place To Spend The Day

Growing up on the South Shore, Starland Sportsplex and Fun Park on Route 53 in Hanover was THE place to go for fun and excitement. Closed throughout the winter, the reopening of Starland each April signified spring and the impending summer months of freedom.

Back in my day (late 80's/1990s, ugh!), Starland offered mini golf, bumper boats, go-karts, batting cages, a driving range, and an arcade. It was the biggest kid-friendly hotspot in the area and we loved it!

Starland first opened as a family entertainment center in 1968. Changes came and went, but the business mission stayed true – provide a fun, family environment for all to enjoy.

In 2013, Starland underwent a major update and the 33 acre property was transformed. A 100,000+ square foot sports facility with 2 turf fields, 8 hardwood courts, and event and meeting spaces were built.

There is even a full service sports bar and restaurant called The Draft on 53. They serve pizza, burgers, sandwiches and typical bar fare along with a wide selection of local beers, handcrafted seasonal cocktails, and more.

For something a little lighter, try Fuel Espresso and Bagel Co. serving sustainably sourced coffee and a variety of pastries.

These days the facility is much more than just a mini amusement center. With a wide range of games, activities, and programs for adults and kids alike, you can now participate in all your favorite sports even in the summer!

There is a cardio sports center for general exercise and athletes can choose from soccer, basketball, pickleball, lacrosse, volleyball, baseball, wiffle ball, and flag football.

Starland is reopening their attractions in phases. Guests may currently enjoy the batting cages, bumper cars, mini golf, go-karts, and the bungee trampoline. The rock wall, XD Dark Ride, laser tag, and arcade are expected to reopen soon.

They ask that guests, players, and coaches wear masks when entering the park and walking around between attractions. It is ok to remove them while enjoying the rides and attractions. Athletes may also remove their masks during games.

Starland is currently open 7 days a week from 12 - 8 PM.
