Tis The Season For Decadent Fall Donuts From These 5 Boston Shops

Fall is the reason Bostonians brave the arctic winters and tolerate the summer traffic. The promise of crisp air, gorgeous foliage and fabulous seasonal flavors make the rest of the year tolerable.

This year, in addition to everyone’s favorite pumpkin spice lattes and apple cider donuts, several Boston shops are expanding their array of Autumn-themed delights.

Blackbird Doughnuts on Tremont Street is featuring a fall-themed Boston Cream donut, the Pumpkin Boston Cream Bismarck. The brioche dough is stuffed with pumpkin spice custard and topped with chocolate ganache. It will be available until Dec. 8.

Kane’s Handcrafted Donuts has two locations in Boston and Saugus. They have infused the flavors of popular fall ales into their seasonal offerings. Traditional cake donuts have been dipped in honey glazes made from Angry Orchard Crisp Apple Hard Cider and Sam Adams Fat Jack Double Pumpkin Ale.

The Angry Orchard Hard Apple Cider Donut is Kane’s take on the traditional New England favorite and The Sam Adams Pumpkin Ale Donuts are topped with fresh cinnamon and nutmeg. Need a gluten-free option? The Pumpkin Spice and Apple Spice Filled Donuts are stuffed with apple pie filling and rolled in cinnamon and sugar. Hurry! These flavors disappear on Oct. 31.

Everybody’s favorite franchise, Dunkin’ Donuts has lots of fun Halloween options to offer this month. Customers can choose from 13 flavors: Spider Donut (featuring a glazed chocolate munchkin spider in the middle), Boston Scream, Scary Strawberry, Witch’s Brew Berry Donut, Vampire’s Delight, Nilla Nightmare, Purple Potion, Choc-o-Lantern, Owl Fashioned, Spooky Sprinkles, Wicked Chocolate, Ghoulish Glazed, and Full Moon. Pumpkin doughnuts are also available for a limited time.

Union Square Donutslocated in Boston’s Public Market, has resurrected their tried-and-true fall favorites once again for 2017. Their flavors are simple, clean and delicious: Apple Crisp, Pumpkin Spice, Apple Cider Cake, and vegan Apple Cinnamon.

Speakeasy Donuts is a Pop-up shop so your chance to grab these fabulous fall treats is really limited! The artisan donuts are $25 for a box of six and must be preordered, and picked up at Little Italy Pizzeria in Beverly on Oct. 11 or Oct. 25.

Their Little Shop of Horrors Audrey II donuts – made using the shop’s signature yeast dough and decorated with blood orange royal icing and sour apple licorice vines – are almost too scary to eat. Almost.
