Tuukka Rask reaches a huge milestone

The New England Patriots did something awesome on Sunday, winning their sixth ever Super Bowl. It was a great day for New England sports, especially when coupled with another achievement by a longtime member of a different team. It might not be as cool as winning a Super Bowl, but it's definitely still worth mentioning.
Tuukka Rask reached a very cool milestone. As the Boston Bruins beat the Washington Capitals, he collected his 253rd career win in net as a member of the B's. It was the Bruins first win against the Capitals since March 29, 2014 and with it, he became the winningest goalie in Bruins history.
The Bruins won the game 1-0 and received strong defensive play. Rask stopped all 24 pucks that came his way. It was his first start since January 19 as he had been out with a concussion prior to this game.
Here's what he told the Associated Press about finally beating the Capitals after the Bruins had lost to them 12 straight times.
"It's one of those things that just happens in sports where you get into these streaks of either winning or losing and at some point they're going to snap," he said.
In case you were wondering how the list goes following Rask's win, here is a look at it. He is No. 1 with 253 wins. Tiny Thompson is the guy who had the record previously; he had 252 wins as a member of the Bruins. Frank Brimsek (230 wins), Gerry Cheevers (226 wins) and Tim Thomas (196 wins) round out the top-5.
And this season, Rask has been effective. He is 16-8-2 with a .924 save percentage and has allowed 2.30 goals per contest. So yeah, regardless of what anyone says, he is having a good year. Don't forget it.
