The Franklin Park Zoo invites you to "Carve out lasting memories" with your family at their new fall attraction, Jack O’Lantern Journey.
Beginning Friday October 5, a half-mile winding trail will be illuminated with 5,000 jack-o’-lanterns, carved gourds, and pumpkin sculptures.
Among the creations are a 15-foot Brontosaurus, a 23-foot-tall Ferris wheel, and countless intricately carved designs of everything from animals to Boston landmarks and celebrities!
20 local and national artists designed and executed the displays created from a mix of real and artificial pumpkins. All of the authentic gourds were obtained from Massachusetts farms.
Jack O' Lantern Journey will include several tableaus, including a dinosaur display and “Pumpkin Carnival.” Effects include spooky music and lighting, with visitors surrounded on all sides by pumpkins - including from above!
Despite the Halloween theme, the zoo promises the event is family-friendly and not too scary for the little ones.
Don't forget to visit Jack-O’-Lantern Village for a seasonal snack like cider, doughnuts, and caramel corn. This area will also sell beer and wine as well as feature pumpkin and ice carving demonstrations.
Jack O' Lantern Journey runs until November 4 on scheduled evenings, beginning at dusk when the zoo closes. Buy your tickets in advance; Children under the age of 2 are free, all other ticket prices vary depending on the time you attend.
